Although the great continent of Antarctica may be generally untouched, it is not necessarily completely free from environmental harm. More and more scientists and tourists each year visit this vast region, and there are important gaps in the regulations that govern activities on the continent and in its surrounding waters.
We believe that all activities in the Antarctic should be conducted according to the strictest possible environmental standards, and thus the gaps in these holes must be filled. We use our observer status in the Antarctic Treaty System and at other governmental organizations to advocate for the implementation of tougher rules and regulations to maximize the effectiveness of Antarctic Environmental Protection.
