The Cape West Coast Biosphere in South Africa stretches from Diep River in Cape Town to the Berg River spanning 378000 hectares of coastal lowland plains. It has been declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve due to its natural beauty, biodiversity, history, culture and location. As a biosphere reserve, it aims to promote a balanced approach to the development of humans and the preservation of biodiversity.
