In the last decade, the energy demand has increased to such a proportion that Eskom cannot sustain the continuous increase in energy usage.  New Hotels, Office Blocks, shopping malls and residential property etc. play a huge role in increase in demand.  Not to mention the increase in electricity costs. Eskom is continuously looking for ways to reduce the energy usage and certain energy saving methods have been implemented.
