Energy studies part time course (UJ)
The University of Johannesburg is offering a Part-Time Honors Course in Energy Studies. This two – year part time course will commence in Feb 2011. It comprises five modules and a project. Three modules will be covered in the first year and the remaining two modules and the projects in the second year.
The first year modules comprise energy economics, energy technology, and energy politics (the geographical and political aspects of energy). The second year modules compromise energy modeling, and energy planning and policy formulation. The emphasis is on South and Southern African energy landscapes.
The course will be taught on a monthly block basis, comprising a Thursday evening lecture, a Friday guest lecture and field excursion, a Saturday session for a seminar, assignment submission and monthly review. Students must read, write and research assignments between contact sessions.
Candidates will be expected to attend other relevant meetings and public lectures as they may occur during the course of the year.
The minimum requirement for admission is an appropriate B.Sc. degree or equivalent; relevant work experience may be considered in the application process.
